#1 - The Exorsistah, by Claudia Mair Burney, Simon & Schuster Publishing, 2008
Genre: The supernatural realm
Target Audience: Girls and Boys 16+
Subject: Casting out demons, the power believers have over them, God's calling
Summary: The exorsistah is a 17 year old girl trying to avoid the foster care life until she turns 18. She just wants a place to live and some food. But demons seem to find her, and her experience with mom has taught her a bit about dealing with them. She connects up with Francis, someone else who sees the demons and who works with his father to cast them out. Francis is convinced Emme should come join them. Emme is convinced Francis is meant for more than life as a unwed priest. Then a good friend of Emme's is discovered to be possessed and Emme has to make a tough decision about where her life should go.
Notes: The Exoristah is in many ways a dark book. Some might not approve of it's very existence. However, Claudia Mair Burney doesn't run from the truth. The Bible makes it clear that demons are real and that Christ has given us authority over them. But still, it's kind of a dark subject. Make sure you/your teen are/is old enough for this
