Christy Miller’s Diary

Dear Silent Friend, this is the beginning of what I hope will be a long and happy friendship.

Book: Christy Miller’s Diary by Robin Jones Gunn, Robin’s Nest Productions, 2010
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Target Audience: Girls 13-30
Subjects: Dating relationships, friendships
Summary: Christy Miller is a young girl who has just moved to California from Wisconsin and this is her diary, a sneak peek into her life, from the time she is a sophomore in high school, all through high school and college, through college graduation, getting married, celebrating her first anniversary and on. Christy is a normal girl with hopes and dreams, friends and boyfriends, parents, little brother, and aunt and uncle, choices and decisions. The diary shares her heart through the best and worst times of her life.
Notes: This is a beautiful remake of the original “From the Secret Place In My Heart, Diary of Christy Miller” book published years ago. It includes the original, but also goes on to tell more of her life after that book took place. The best part is that it goes farther in time than any of the other books about the characters from the original Christy Milller series so far. It takes us even a little past the ending of the Katie Weldon series! The spiritual lesson more than anything is to trust God in all the details of life, especially in regard to boyfriends. Christy has to learn that lesson many times over throughout her life, with Todd, Rick, Doug, and finally once again with Todd. The illustrations used to describe her relationship with God are beautiful.

Deuteronomy 4:29 - But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.
