Please God! I can’t do this, she though, feeling herself begin to fall backward – just like in her dream, but it wasn’t a dream this time. This was for real.

Book: Storm by Rick Bundschuh, Zondervan Publishers, 2007
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Target Audience: Girls 12-19
Subjects: Trust in God, Missions
Summary: Mexico here we come!... if we can raise enough money that is…  Bethany and her friends a busily arranging fundraisers – washing cars and planning a surf-a-thon. But they aren’t so busy they can’t pursue adventures. One morning Bethany and Holly take a hike on a steep trail where they find a girl and her mother stranded on the side of the cliff. How can a one-armed girl climb down a mountain and navigate a rescue?
Notes: This series is based off a real life person – Bethany Hamilton, the surfer girl who lost her arm in a shark attack, then went on to become a pro-surfer. It combines fictional elements with true elements of Bethany’s real life adventures. The focus is on an ordinary teen girl who has a heart for God and a heart for the hurting.
In this book, Bethany and Holly learn just how much of a difference one decision can make. Their choice to try to rescue someone stranded on a cliff draws someone to Christ and in the end, becomes the means of raising the rest of the money they need to go to Mexico.

Esther 4:14 – For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”
