They asked to accept Christ. I should be rejoicing . But I’m frustrated. Why didn’t You use ME?

Book: Croutons For Breakfast by Kathy Wierenga Buchanan, Focus On The Family Publishing/Tyndale House Publishers, 2003
Croutons for Breakfast (Brio Girls)
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Target Audience: Girls 13-21
Subjects: God’s will, missions, Friendships, Relationships with family, God’s love
Summary: God has great plans for the Brio group! He’s sending them on a missions trip to Venezuela! Hannah is ecstatic! Evangelism is her gift and she know she will lead tons of people to Christ by the end of the trip. Jacie is nervous! Evangelism is not her gift! She has such a hard time talking to people! How can God possibly use her to bring anyone to Christ?  To their surprise, God’s plans are quite different than their own. Hannah’s boldness and pride make it quite difficult for her, while Jacie’s art seems to be the very thing God wants to use. Both girls have to learn a bit about what it truly means to serve God and seek His will instead of their own.
Notes: This book is the seventh one in the Brio Girls series, a series put out by Focus On The Family about 5 friends as they go through their last two years of highschool. Each book boldly addresses a major question that Christians might ask about faith and following God. These books don’t make light of the struggles or give pat answers. It shows very realistic characters wrestling with God. I highly recommend all of the book in this series! This book deals with the question of what it really means to serve God. Hannah thinks she has all the answers but has to learn that perhaps God has other plans for her. Jacie has to wrestle with her feelings of self-worth as she aches for a father to love her and be there for her. Everyone around her sees her as amazing and talented, but Jacie doesn’t see it and tends to let fear get in the way of how God wants to use her.

Proverbs 19:21 – Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.
